Fresno Police Officer Involved in Car Accident near Highway 180, on Fulton Street

On Tuesday, August 25, 2015, a police truck was involved in a car accident, in Fresno.  The patrol vehicle collision happened on Fulton Street and Highway 180 on-ramp, at about 5:30 AM.

Reports said that a Fresno K9 Ford F-150 truck was headed south on Fulton Street, when the officer received a call about another accident.  The officer turned on his lights and siren and started to respond to the other incident.  The pickup truck entered the intersection of Fulton and the westbound Highway 180 on-ramp.

At that time a woman was driving a red Chevy Cavalier sedan, headed west to the on-ramp, with a green light.  The two vehicle crashed into each other.

The woman in the Chevrolet suffered moderate injuries.  She was taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center, for treatment.

The Fresno officer also sustained moderate injuries.  The police dog was not hurt.

Multiple Car Accidents in Fresno County, Both on Highway 180

November 22, 2014- Two separate vehicle collision leave one person dead and others injured, in west Fresno County.  The car accidents both happened on Highway 180, on Saturday evening.

The first incident involved four vehicles on Highway 180, near San Mateo, at about 5:30 PM.  A pickup truck was reported to have been traveling west when it veered into the eastbound lane and smashed head-on into another vehicle.  Two other cars headed east then collided into the back of the initial crash.

The pickup driver suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.  A woman involved in the accident was also hurt and taken to the hospital.

The second collision ended in fatality and occurred at about 5:45 PM, on eastbound 180 and Howard Avenue, near Kerman.

 A Fresno woman died at the scene after her car struck the back of a pickup towing a trailer.  The woman’s car hit the truck that was stopped and about to turn northbound onto Howard Avenue. The California Highway Patrol reported that the truck was hard to see as the trailer had no properly equipped lighting, including brakes and turn signals.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.  The truck driver sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Head-on Car Collision on Highway 180 in Fresno

October 31, 2014- A vehicle driving the wrong way on Highway 180 caused a fatal crash.  The car accident happened in Southeast Fresno, on Friday, at about 12:30 AM.

Gupinder Gill, who is suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol, was traveling in a black Nissan Altima, driving west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 180.  The Nissan collided head-on with a Toyota Camry, near Fowler Avenue.

The 19 year old male driver of the Toyota was killed.  Maria Ramiro-Vera, who was a passenger in the Camry, suffered serious injuries.  She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Gill sustained minor injuries.  He is expected to be charged with felony DUI.

Multiple Car Collision on Highway 180, in Fresno

October 22, 2014- A multiple car crash slowed traffic in Fresno, on Wednesday.  The vehicle collision occurred at approximately 7 AM.

The accident happened on the Chestnut Avenue off-ramp from Highway 180.  At least three vehicles were involved in the wreck.

Semi Truck Caught Fire, in Accident on Highway 180, in Sanger

Visalia Nursing Home Lawyer John Rozier has the following accident report; On Tuesday, September 30, 2014, part of Highway 180 was closed to traffic, because of a big rig collision, in Fresno County.  The vehicle accident took place in Sanger, at about 2 PM.

A big rig that was carrying asphalt was traveling west on Highway 180, near Highway 63, in Sanger.  The semi truck caught fire, and spilled the asphalt, which blocked the westbound lane of the freeway.

No other information is known at this time.  The accident in under investigation.

Fresno County Pedestrian Killed After Car Collision on Highway 180

October 1, 2014- A pedestrian accident, leaves one woman dead, in Fresno County.  The car collision happened on Highway 180, near Armstrong, on Wednesday night.

A woman, who was reported to have been wearing dark clothing, was walking along Freeway 180.  She was hit by a vehicle that was coming around a curve in the highway.  The driver said he tried to avoid her, but was unable to swerve out of the way.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Multiple Vehicle Accident on Highway 180 in Mendota

June 9, 2014- A multi-vehicle collision closed a part of Highway 180, in Fresno County.  The car accident occurred Monday, sometime before 8 AM, in Mendota.

The four vehicle collision happened on Highway 180, between 7th Street and 9th Street.  Four people are reported to have been injured, and taken to the local hospital.

The freeway reopened just before 8 o'clock this morning.

Update: Highway 180 Car Collision in Fresno

March 28, 2014-  The victim in the fatal automobile accident that occurred in Fresno, on Friday, has been identified.  The crash happened at approximately 7:30 AM, on Highway 180.

The woman killed was, Jacqueline Garcia, 32 year old.  The collision involved a pickup truck and a car, and took place on westbound Highway 180, near Cedar Avenue.  Between Highway 168 and Highway 41.

Highway 180 Car Collision in Fresno

March 28, 2014- A fatal automobile accident involving a pickup truck and car, happened Friday morning, in Fresno.  The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 AM.

The collision took place on westbound Highway 180, east of Cedar Avenue, between Highways 168 and 41.  A woman, in one of the vehicles, was killed in the accident.

One Man Dead in Highway 180 Accident Fresno

March 24, 2014- A car accident in Fresno County, ends in a fatality, on Highway 180, Monday night.  The collision occurred at the intersection of Hwy 180 and Brawley Avenue.

The driver of white Ford F150 pickup truck was stopped at a traffic signal, headed east on Highway 180, waiting to make a left-hand turn onto Brawley Ave.

When the light turned green and the Ford started to turn, a white van, driven by Joseph Ferguson, 39 years old, ran the stop light.  The van smashed into the truck's bed, and ended up on its side and pushed into the traffic light pole.

Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  No one in the pickup was hurt.

Update: Fresno Car Accident and Shooting on Highway 180

March 17, 2014- The Fresno County coroner has identified the victim who died in Monday's car crash and shooting incident.  The accident happened on the Fulton Avenue offramp, from Highway 180, in Fresno.

The man who died from gunshot wounds was Mario Castenon, 22 years old.  Mario and another man were shot multiple times in their vehicle on the freeway, west of Highway 99.  Police said it appeared to be gang related.

Mario Castenon and the other shooting victim were attempting to get to Community Regional Medical Center hospital to be treated for their wounds.  The black sedan headed east on Highway 180.  The driver then ran a red light on Fulton Street near the highway's offramp, and crashed into a pickup truck.

The other man is reported to be in stable condition.

Fresno Car Crash and Shooting on Highway 180

March 17, 2014- A car crash and shooting in Fresno, happened at Fulton Street and Highway 180, on Monday.  The accident and shooting were reported at about 1:45 PM.

The incident occurred near the Fulton Street off-ramp from eastbound Highway 180.  Two people were shot, one is in critical condition.

The CHP has closed Highway 180's on and off ramps, for Fulton Street and Van Ness Avenue, while they investigate the shooting and crash.

Car Crash on Highway 180 in Fresno; Vehicle Catches Fire

March 14, 2014- On Friday a vehicle was struck by a hit and run driver in Fresno, California, and caught on fire.  The accident happened at about 2:50 PM.

A Mitsubishi Lancer was driving on the Highway 180 connector ramp to Highway 41, when it was hit in the back by another car that just drove off after striking it.

The Lancer flipped onto its side and caught on fire.  The three people in the Mitsubishi were able to get out of the car, before anyone was hurt.  But a pregnant woman, in her 20's was taken to the hospital for observation.

Officers have yet to catch the driver that drove off after hitting the Lancer.  There appear to be no witnesses to the collision.

Update: Highway 180 Pedestrian Fatality in Fresno County

March 6, 2014- The pedestrian has been identified that was killed in an accident on Thursday in Fresno County.

The 61 year old woman has been identified as Leang Kim Uk, of Fresno.  She was killed on Highway 180, as she was weaving in and out of traffic in the middle of the highway, near Grantland Avenue.

The driver, Gloria Campos, that struck Uk, is reported to have been travelling at about 60 mph.  She didn't see the woman until it was too late.  Campos tried to swerve, but couldn't avoid hitting her.

Officials have said that the road on Highway 180 is not well lit, making it hard for drivers to see.

Accident on Highway 180 near Peach Avenue in Fresno

January 13, 2012- A man suffered serious injury after his car crashed in east central Fresno, on Friday. The accident occurred at about 11 PM.

The man was traveling on Highway 180. He attempted to exit onto the Peach Avenue off-ramp, but failed to make the curve. The car slammed into the bushes and a large piece of metal debris.

After the crash he was well enough to call 911, before being taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

SUV Flies Off Overpass in Fresno Killing Driver

November 29, 2011- A driver was killed in a crash in Fresno, Tuesday morning on the westbound transition from Highway 168 to Highway 180. The accident happened at about 3:00 AM.

The driver, Jordan Stokes, was traveling in a 2006 Ford Escape, when he lost control of his vehicle. The Ford drifted off the highway, hit the center divide before Olive Avenue and struck a road sign.

The vehicle went airborne as it traveled over the overpass and crashed into a dirt embankment on the south side of the street, under the Highway 168 overpass.

Stokes was thrown from his SUV. He received major injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

The CHP are investigating the cause of the crash. They claim that fog was not a factor.

Update: Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Hwy 180 in Fresno

November 15, 2011- An update to the crash that occurred Tuesday night, where a 13 year-old girl was killed while running across Highway180, in Fresno.

Angel Perez was hit by an Audi, driven by Edward Bessonov of Fresno. He was driving in the fast lane of eastbound 180, on the eastbound transition to Highway 168.

Bessanov was not cited for the accident.

Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Hwy 180 in Fresno

November 15, 2011- A teenager was struck and killed while crossing a freeway in Fresno, Tuesday night. The accident happened at about 6:30 PM.

Angel Perez, 13, was walking to the store with her two friends in southeast Fresno, on Cedar Avenue near Highway 180. She decided to take a shortcut and illegally cross the 180 to meet her two friends who had crossed using the Cedar Ave./Hwy 168 overpass sidewalk.

She went down to the freeway to run across and meet back up with the girls. A car, driven by a 25 year old man who was commuting home and going the speed limit, struck Perez as she was darting across the freeway.

Perez died at the scene of the crash. The driver was not injured, but his vehicle suffered major damage.

Fresno Accident on Highway 180 Leaves One Person Dead

October 31, 2011- An accident eight miles west of Fresno kills a motorcyclist, Monday morning. The accident happened at about 6:40 AM.

Lawrence Sanchez of Kerman was riding his Harley Davidson west on Highway 180. He was following a Nissan Frontier, driven by Latoya Ashley Green of Fresno, who, officers report, was driving under the influence.

Green began to turn left toward southbound Monroe Avenue, then made a sharp turn toward northbound Monroe. At the same time, Sanchez attempted to pass the Nissan on the right. The motorcycle slammed into the right side of the Nissan, and Sanchez was thrown from his bike.

He died at the scene of the crash.

The Highway Patrol arrested Green for DUI, vehicular manslaughter and driving with a suspended license.

Motorcyclist Hurt in Accident on Highway 180

October 3, 2011- A motorcycle driver was involved in an accident on Highway 180 in Fresno, early Monday morning.

The accident occurred on 180, just west of Highway 168, when a driver of a station wagon struck a car, and the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist crashed and was injured with a possible broken leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

The driver of the station wagon was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
