Multiple Vehicle Accident on Highway 65 in Porterville

October 4, 2014- A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 65 injures at least two people, in Tulare County.  The SUV accident took place on Saturday, in Porterville, at about 1 PM.

Witnesses reported that a gray Mercury, white Toyota, and a black GMC SUV were all involved in the crash on northbound Highway 65, between Scranton Avenue and Tea Pot Dome Avenue.  One of the cars was said to have lost control, and caused the GMC Sport Utility Vehicle, and the other automobile to crash into it and each other.

The impact of the collision caused the SUV, which had three people inside, to flip onto its side.  The jaws of life had to be used to extricate the victims from the GMC.

Two of the people in the accident were taken to the hospital, and one of them suffered moderate injuries.  No other injuries have been reported.

Automobile Collision in Strathmore Injures Six People on Highway 65

October 1, 2014- A two-vehicle collision in Tulare County, injures six people, on a Highway 65 intersection.  The automobile accident occurred early Wednesday, in Strathmore.

A 24 year old female driver, of Porterville, was driving a Honda Accord at the intersection of Highway 65 and Avenue 196.  A 59 year old male driver, of a Ford Escape SUV, was reported to have made a left turn right in front of the Honda.  The two vehicles collided.

The jaws of life were used to extricate the driver from the Accord.  She suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.

Three passengers in the Honda were also injured; one female, and two males.  Their injuries ranged from minor to moderate.  The female was taken to Sierra View Medical Center, and one of the males was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, in Visalia.  The third passenger refused treatment.

The driver of the SUV, who was from Hanford, and his 55 year old male passenger, both refused medical aide.

Lindsay Vehicle Accident After a Police Car Chase in Tulare County

Visalia Senior Citizen Abuse Attorney John L. Rozier has the following crash report; On Sunday, September 7, 2014, a car chase leads to vehicle collision, in Tulare County.  The automobile accident happened in Lindsay, at about 9:20 PM.

The California Highway Patrol reported that Miguel Villalpando was suspected of driving under the influence and tried to evade police by driving without the car's lights on.  As he was traveling on Highway 65, in his 2003 Honda Accord, he slammed into the back of a Ford Expedition.

The Expedition, which was driven by Christina Zaragola, of Strathmore, was stopped at the stop light at the intersection of the highway and Hermosa Avenue.

Villalpando, and his passengers, Jesus Perez, and Erik Medina, sustained minor to moderate injuries.  Zaragola suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Ambulance Vehicle Collision in Porterville on Highway 65

Visalia Elder Abuse Attorney John L. Rozier has the subsequent update; On Sunday, July 27, 2014, a car collision leaves to women injured in Tulare County.  The vehicle accident occurred in Porterville, on Highway 65, at approximately 8:35 PM.

Maria Maldonado, was driving a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder on Highway 65, near Olive Avenue, in the far left lane.  An Imperial Ambulance, driven by Micaela Johnson, 19 years old, veered into the left lane, which caused the Nissan to swerve off the road, and into the median.

The Pathfinder then shot back across the highway, into an embankment on the right of the road, and smashed into a tree and fence.

Maldonado, and her passenger; Elizabeth Cortez, sustained minor injuries, and were taken to Sierra View District Hospital in Porterville.

Highway 65 Automobile Collision in Porterville

April 30, 2014- A Porterville car accident happened on Highway 65, in Tulare County.  The collision left four people injured, on Wednesday at about 8:10 AM.

A 79 year old man, was driving a Lexus sedan, and made a left turn onto Highway 65 from the east on-ramp of Pioneer Avenue, which was the wrong way.  That put the car traveling south on northbound lanes.

The Lexus collided head-on with a Ford Taurus driven by a woman who was 25 years old.

The crash injured both drivers, and two children, who were passengers in the Ford.  All were taken to the hospital for treatment.  The kids have since been treated and released from the hospital.

Semi Truck Catches Fire in an Accident on Highway 99 Bakersfield

April 12, 2014- A semi truck rolled over and caught fire on Highway 99 in Kern County, on Saturday.  The vehicle accident happened at about 4 AM.

The big rig that was involved in the crash, was a tanker hauling hundreds of gallons of fuel, on its way to Tehachapi, from Fresno.  The semi over-turned on Highway 99, near the Highway 65 overpass.

After the big rig lost control and flipped, it was soon engulfed in flames.  The driver of the semi truck, was rescued by a witness to the crash, Mayra Montano, who was on her way to work.

The driver of the tanker sustained moderate injuries, with head trauma and some broken ribs.  He was taken to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield.

Fatality on Highway 65 in Porterville

March 6, 2014- A driver was killed in a fatal car crash in Porterville, on Thursday, on Highway 65.

The 95 year old Porterville man, was travelling on Highway 65, south of Highway 190, when his car veered off the west side of the highway, and into an orchard.  The vehicle flipped over and the driver died at the scene of the accident.

The collision remains under investigation.

Crash in Lindsay kills one

November 17, 2010--Yesterday's crash on Highway 65 at Avenue 208 in Lindsay claimed the life of Nicanor Marroquin, age 39 of Porterville.  He was driving a Dodge Neon.  The other vehicle was a Ford Ranger driven by Joseph Edwards, age 31 of Visalia.

Highway 65 accident in Tulare County

November 17, 2010--A two vehicle accident was reported at 4:15 this afternoon in Tulare County.  Both vehicles rolled and one party was ejected.  The crash was at State Route 65 and Avenue 208.  The names of the partes have not yet been released.

August 15 Portervilled rollover accident

On August 15 there was a rollover accident on Highway 65 in Porterville in Tulare County. According to reports a Ford Explorer was southbound on Highway 65 when he veered left and overturned. Investigators have concluded that a tire may have blown out on the vehicle causing the accident. The vehicle rolled several times before landing on its wheels. April 26 Highway 65 accident at Road 216 injures 2

On April 26 Miguel Aguilera and Fidel Arana was injured when their vehicles collided in an accident on Highway 65 in Tulare County. Reportedly Aguilera was westbound on Road 216 when he failed to yield as he crossed the highway. he drove in front of the vehicle driven by Arana and was broadsided. April 26 head-on collision on Highway 65 causes a wrongful death

On April 26 Arguime Des Garcia was killed in a wrongful death accident on Highway 65 near Avenue 184 when his pickup hit a car head on.  Reportedly Garcia was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when he hit a Honda Accord driven by Eric Coyne. Head-on crash in Porterville kills one

April 26, 2010--Yesterday's head-on accident on Highway 65 north of Avenue 184 killed Arguime Des Garcia, age 62 of Porterville.  Two occupants of a Honda Accord were injured including Eric Coyne and Brian Thoburn.

April 9 motorcycle accident on Highway 65 near Porterville

On April 9 two people were injured when a vehicle hit a motorcycle on Highway 65 near Porterville. Reportedly the car hit the motorcycle on Highway 65 near Avenue 2 around 8:30 am. The motorcyclist was air lifted to a trauma hospital. The driver of the car was also hospitalized.

Highway 65 accident near Porterville with motorcycle

April 8, 2010--A motorcycle vs. auto accident in Visalia resulted in the motorcycle rider being airlifted to a local hospital.  The driver of the vehicle was also hospitalized.  The site of the accident was at Highway 65 and Avenue 2 near Porterville in Tulare County.

November 29 accident on HIghway 65 near Terra Bella

On November 29 a GMC pickup and a smaller pickup were involved in a head-on collision on Highway 65  north of Avenue 112 near Terra Bella. Three occupants of the GMC were injured and were taken to local hospitals. A man and woman were taken to Sierra View District Hospital with chest and leg pains. A third occupant of the GMC was not breathing when firefighters arrived and she was sirlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene of the accident. There may have been alcohol involved. Woman killed in accident on Highway 65 on November 22 identified as Maria Rosales

The woman killed on November 22 in an accident on Highway 65 near Strathmore has been identified as 53-year-old Maria Rosales. Rosales was tragically killed when the SUV she was a passenger in was broadsided by a pick-up truck on Highway 65. Another passenger in the SUV, who was flown to COmmunity Regional Medical Center, has been identified as Felipa Banuelos. Banuelos is listed in critical condition. The driver of the SUV, Hector Solis and two other passengers, Isalas Martinez and Michael Martinez were taken to Sierra View District Hospital with mild to moderate injuries. The driver of the pick-up, Marcial Morales Jr. and his passenger Yolanda Morales were also taken to Sierra View District Hospital with moderate injuries. November 22 accident at Highway 65 and Avenue 200 near Strathmore kills one and injures five

On November 22 there was a fatal 3-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 65 and Avenue 200 near Strathmore in Tulare County. An SUV was turning left onto Avenue 200 off of southbound Highway 65 when it was broadsided by a northbound pickup truck. Both vehicles then hit a vehicle waiting at the westbound Avenue 200 stop sign. The front seat passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A girl in the SUV was flown to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The driver of the SUV and another girl along with the driver of the pick-up truck and third car were taken to Sierra View Ditrict Hospital in Poterville with moderate injuries.

Kern County highway accidents

November 7, 2009--In light of the recent spate of fatal highway accidents on Blood Alley in Kern County, aka Highway 46, the Bakersfield Californian printed a review of fatalities on that road and elsewhere in the county for the past few years.

Since 2004 on Highway 46 alone there have been 453 crashes with deaths occurring in 20 of the collisions.    That put Highway 46 in a tie with Highway 223 for the highest ratio of accidents.  Eight of the twenty fatal accidents occurred in a single year--2004.  Thirteen people died that year.  In October of this year there were 2 horrible accidents claiming 7 lives.  The stats on other Kern County highways are as follows:

Highway 119:  636 crashes, 16 fatal crashes
Highway 223:  271 crashes, 12 fatal crashes
Highway 178:  456 crashes, 11 fatal crashes
Highway 184:  870 crashes, 9 fatal crashes
Highway 43:  335 crashes, 8 fatal crashes
Highway 65:  298 crashes, 5 fatal crashes
