Big Rig Collision on Highway 99 Exit on North Avenue in Fresno

October 10, 2014- A semi truck accident leads to temporary closure of a Highway 99 exit, in Fresno.  The big rig collision happened at about 8 PM, on North Avenue.

The tractor-trailer collided with a pickup truck near the overpass.  The crash lead to a fire that caused the closure of the freeway exit.

The female driver of the pickup suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.  No one else was reported to have been injured in the semi truck collision.

The Highway 99 exit onto North Avenue was closed for a couple hours to deal with the fire and wreckage.

Accident West of Sanger on Del Rey Avenue

January 28, 2012- Two people died in a a crash near Sanger, on Saturday. The accident happened at about 8:40 PM.

Paul Rosales, was driving a 1995 Chevy Astro Van north on Del Rey Avenue. Posales failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection of Del Rey and North Avenue.

A Ford F150 pickup truck, driven by Shaun Benson, of Sanger, was traveling eastbound on North Avenue at about 60-65 mph, when it broadsided the van as it entered the intersection.

The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to end up in a field at the side of the roadway. The van then burst into flames.

Paul Rosales, and, Rosa Lopez, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Their one-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, received minor injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.

Bensen suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Lexus Collides with Semi Truck in Fresno

August 11, 2011- Thursday morning a collision occurred between a Lexus and a big rig, southeast of Fresno. The crash left the driver of the Lexus pinned under the semi until rescue workers could get him out.

The semi truck driver told investigators that he was eastbound on North Avenue just before 9 AM, and had a green light at the intersection. The Lexus was going north on Clovis Avenue, reportedly at an estimated speed of 55 mph. He told the CHP that he saw the Lexus but could do nothing except brace himself for the impact.

Witnesses of the accident agreed with the truck driver’s account, that the Lexus went through a red light and slammed into the side of the big rig. The impact of the collision knocked the front axle off the truck and pushed it out of the intersection.

It appears the truck driver was not injured. The driver of the Lexus was hospitalized. No word yet, on how severe his injuries are.

Sanger Fatal Accident after Stop Sign was run

March 3, 2011--Last night's accident near Sanger sounds very familiar.  A fatal accident occurred near Sanger about 2 years ago where the stop sign was blocked by orange tree branches---one died and 6 others were seriously hurt in that prior accident.  Litigation is still pending.

In yesterday's accident the driver of a Toyota ran a stop sign at Del Rey and North Avenues just before 7pm.  The Hmong victims were identified as Shoua Vang and Yong Vang, both in their mid-fifties.  Five others were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

January 17 wrongful death big rig accident in Fresno

On January 17 Dr. Robb Smith was killed in a wrongful death accident involving a big rig at Temperance and North Avenues in Fresno. Reportedly Smith was driving south on Temperance approaching the stop sign intersection at North Avenue. Meanwhile Fidel Solano was driving west on North Avenue approaching Temperance. Solano had the right of way at the intersection when Smith slammed into the side of the big rig. Smith died at the scene of the accident.
