February 4 wrongful death bicycle accident in Modesto

On February 4 Fermin Duran Jr. was killed in a wrongful death bicycle accident on West Service Road in Modesto. Reportedly Duran had stopped in the eastbound lane when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle. Duran was not wearing a helmet or other protective gear. Duran stopped his bike just east of Ustick Road when the Chevrolet Suburban driven by Pedro Avalos approached him at 65 mph. Due to the rain and slick road conditions, Avalos could not stop the vehicle in time. Avalos and his passengers were not injured. The speed limit in that area is 55 mph for ideal road conditions. Avalos was not cited at the time but the accident is being investigated further. http://www.nelsonrozier.com/

February 4 wrongful death pedestrian accident in Fresno near Blackstone and Ashlan Avenues

On February 4 there was a wrongful death pedestrian accident in Fresno at Blackstone and Ashlan Avenues. Reportedly the victim was hit by a pickup truck. The pickup truck was detained with one person, however it was unclear whether there were other people in the truck or if the person detained was the driver or not. When officers responded to the scene of the accident the victim was found lying on the sidewalk with several injuries. The victim was taken to a local hospital and was later declared dead.

Please call us if you would like us to examine the black box data from the air bag if one ignited to determine the speed of the truck.

February 4 crash at Interstate 580 at Altamont Pass

On February 4 there was a crash at Interstate 580 at Altamont Pass west of North Flynn Road. Reportedly Beiru Chen was traveling the wrong way on the eastbound lanes when she lost control of the vehicle. She was then hit by a semi. Another semi was also involved in the accident. Chen suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Castro Valley. Neither truck driver was injured.

Although Ms. Chen would appear to be most at fault, our expert engineers can reconstruct this accident to determine if excess speed by other drivers may have contributed to this collision.  Please give us a call, this is what we do.   http://nelsonrozier.com/

February 4 Highway 46 crash

On February 4 a sleepy driver caused a head-on collision on Highway 46. Reportedly Domiro Ruiz was driving westbound on Highway 46 when his fatigue caused him to drift into the eastbound lanes. Jason Rice was driving a Freightliner when he saw the Kia enter his lane. Rice slammed on his brakes to attempt to avoid the crash but the Kia was traveling too fast to avoid the crash. Ruiz was treated at Twin Cities Community Hospital for major injuries. Rice had minor injuries.

Our offices often represent the underdog.  Please let us put some engineering talent to work to see if excess speed by other drivers may have contributed to Mr. Ruiz' injuries.  http://nelsonrozier.com/
