Fatal Semi Truck Collision in Merced County near Atwater

May 2, 2014- An automobile accident killed one man, in Merced County, on Friday.  The collision happened near Atwater, north of Fresno, at about 10:30 AM.

Steven Hill, 51 years old, was driving a 2010 Honda Accord east on Atwater-Jordan Road.  While Miguel Morales, of Chowchilla, was traveling southbound, in a semi truck, on Lincoln Boulevard.

The intersection of Atwater-Jordan Road and Lincoln Blvd. have stop signs posted on the Atwater side, but does not have them on the Lincoln side.  The Honda ran through the stop sign at the intersection, and traveled right into the path of the big rig.

The semi truck smashed into the left side of the Accord, and both vehicles ended up in the southeast corner of the intersection, and hit a power pole.

Steven Hill was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  Morales was not injured.
