Fog Related Crash in Hanford on Kansas Avenue

January 8, 2012- A fog related crash causes a three car pile-up, in Hanford, west of Visalia. The accident happened on Sunday, at about 12:25 AM.

Guillermo Miranda was traveling eastbound on Kansas Avenue, past 12th Avenue, when he tried to pass a slow moving Honda Accord in front of him.

Reports said that at the time of the crash, thick fog made it difficult to see past 500 feet.

As Miranda's Chevy moved into the opposing lane he saw a Honda Civic headed straight toward him. Miranda accelerated and tried to get around the Accord in time, but crashed into the front end of the Civic.

The impact of the collision caused the Chevy to spin around, and slammed into the left side of the Accord that he had been trying to pass.

Miranda suffered serious injuries, and his passenger, Angela Miranda, sustained moderate injuries. Both were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, in Visalia.

The three occupants of the Civic; Roman Martinez, Arnolfo Leon, and Maria Leon, of Delano, were also injured and taken to Community Regional Medical center, in Fresno.

The Accord's driver, Martha Calderon received minor injuries and sought medical attention on her own.

Visalia accident on Caldwell

January 27, 2011--Thursday night a Visalia woman had her car sandwiched between two others--she was driving a Buick Regal on Caldwell near Court.  She was taken to Kaweah Delta hospital in Visalia as her car had absorbed most of the damage.

Issues involved in this case include the speed of each car, the involvement of fog, and whether any of the three drivers was distracted.  The air bag event data recorders or black boxes can give us much of this information if they are retrieved before repairs are done.  Please give us a call.  Attorney John Rozier on Caldwell in Visalia.  559-713-0159.  http://www.nelsonrozier.com/

December 7 Fresno County fog-related accident

On the morning of December 7 there was an accident related to the fog that involved a big rig and three other vehicles in Fresno County. According to reports the big rig was westbound on Manning Avenue when it stopped at McMullen Grade. The big rig then continued into the intersection. At the same time a van that was traveling north on McMullen Grade and hit the big rig. Later another northbound car came out of the fog on McMullen and hit the big rig.  Finally a third vehicle which was southbound hit the big rig. Due to fog, visibility in the area was around 200 feet. The vehicles involved in the accident were most likely traveling a a speed that was not appropriate for the weather conditions.  One person was hospitalized with moderate injuries as a result of this accident.
This law firm would like to remind all drivers to take the necessary precautions when driving in foggy weather. Always travel at a speed in which you can stop your vehicle within your range of visibility if necessary. This will prevent pileup accidents from occurring. Also, drive with the windows down in order to hear any accidents that may have happened ahead of you on the roadway.

Fog Warning

Now that winter is coming up quickly, fog season is beginning as well. There will inevitably be many fog-related accidents this year. Tragically, most of these accidents are completely avoidable if motorists were to drive with the proper precautions. Drivers are reminded to drive at appropriate speeds depending on the weather, to keep a safe following distance between them and the vehicle ahead of them, and to drive with the windows down during especially bad fog in order to hear any traffic incidents ahead especially in rural areas where the fog can be thicker. By taking these simple precautions, all motorists can travel safely through fog season in the Central Valley.
