Multi-Vehicle Accident in Bakersfield on State Route 58
November 13, 2014- A 9-car pileup was reported by the CHP in Kern County on Thursday. The multiple vehicle collision occurred in Bakersfield, on Highway 58, at about 8 AM.
The California Highway Patrol said that at least one of the vehicles involved in the crash caught fire. The incident blocked the fast lane of the freeway, east of Union Avenue. The median was also blocked. Traffic was slowed until the accident could be investigated and the wreckage cleared.

Allen Wayne Siedmiorka, 44 years old, was riding his motorcycle on Highway 58. A pickup truck attempted to turn at the intersection of State Route 58 and Wasco Way, and the biker collided with the side of the vehicle.

Siedmiorka was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Nine Car Pile Up on Highway 58 in Bakersfield Car Collision
On Thursday, November 13, 2014, a 9-car pileup on westbound Highway 58 slowed traffic, in Kern County. The multiple vehicle collision happened in Bakersfield, at about 8 AM.
The automobile accident took place just east of Union Avenue, on the westbound freeway. The California Highway Patrol reported that at least one vehicle was on fire.

Kern County Big Rig Collision on Highway 58 Near Mojave
October 4, 2014- A semi truck accident stops traffic on Highway 58, in Kern County. The big rig collision happened between Mojave and Tehachapi, on Saturday, at about 5:45 AM.
The vehicle crash took place on the eastbound side of Highway 58, near Cameron Road. The wreck occurred between a car and a tractor-trailer. The automobile ended up in the center divide of the freeway, and the semi truck came to rest in a ditch at the side of the road. The vehicle then caught fire.
At least one victim suffered major injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital.
Traffic was delayed on the highway for about 7 hours. No other information is available at this time.

Bakersfield Automobile Accident on Highway 58 & Milham Drive
September 10, 2014- An automobile accident sends car off the freeway in Kern County, on Wednesday. The car collision happened in Bakersfield on Highway 58, at about 2:25 PM.
A woman driving a car was headed westbound on Highway 58, when for an unknown reason she lost control of the vehicle. The car drove off the freeway, and came to rest near homes at South Milham Drive.
The female driver survived the crash, but refused treatment at the scene. No other information is known at this time.

Motorcyclist Killed in Vehicle Accident on Highway 58 in Bakersfield
August 22, 2014- On Friday afternoon a motorcycle rider was fatally injured, in a crash on Highway 58. The Kern County vehicle collision occurred in Bakersfield.
Julio Rodriguez, 58 years old, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Highway 58 near South Chester Avenue. The motorcyclist drove his bike between lanes while traffic on the freeway slowed.
The motorcycle's handlebar hit a vehicle, which caused Rodriguez to lose control and fall off the bike. He was then run over.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Two Separate Car Collisions on Highway 99 in Bakersfield
August 8, 2014- Two people were hurt after two separate car accidents, in Kern County. The vehicle collisions took place in Bakersfield, on Highway 99, early Friday morning.
The driver of the first crash, was traveling near the Highway 58 and 99 interchange, when the victim lost control of the car. The vehicle swerved off the freeway, then hit a guardrail. The driver was ejected from the car.
As the traffic was stopped from the initial accident, a second collision occurred.
The driver of the first collision suffered moderate to major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment. At least one person was hurt in the second incident and was also taken to the hospital.

Rollover Automobile Crash on Highway 99, in Bakersfield

The California Highway Patrol said that they had tried to pull over an automobile for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The driver drove off onto Highway 58, traveling west, and then merging onto the 99 freeway north.
The car attempted to exit onto Rosedale Highway, but drove off the exit ramp, and rolled over down the embankment.
A man and woman were trapped inside the vehicle after the crash, and emergency crews had to extricate them.
Both people were injured and taken to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield, for treatment.

Big Rig Accident on Highway 58 in Kern County
May 14, 2014- A semi truck caught fire in a vehicle accident that took place on Highway 58. The incident occurred on Wednesday, at about 11 PM, in Bakersfield.
The big rig, which was hauling produce, was driving eastbound on Highway 58, near Bena Road. The driver, Bob Comaduran, noticed smoke coming from the semi trucks engine while driving on the freeway. Comaduran slowed down, and he and his son, who was a passenger, jumped out, before the hauler completely erupted into flames.
The semi truck burned until it was beyond recognizable.
The driver and his son sustained only minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Tanker Truck Leaks Fuel after Crash on Highway 99 Bakersfield
May 5, 2014- A semi truck crash took place in Kern County, Monday night. The accident happened on Highway 99 to the Highway 58 transition, in Bakersfield, at about 9:30 PM.
A tanker truck filled with fuel was traveling on southbound Highway 99. As the big rig was moving onto the eastbound on-ramp to Tehachapi, it crashed into another truck.
The collision caused the tanker truck to flip onto its side and leak diesel fuel onto the freeway. The highways were blocked for several hours, while crews cleaned up the fuel and wreckage.
One of the big rig drivers sustained minor injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment.

April 8, 2014- A multi-vehicle accident, involving two cars and two big rigs, happened in Kern County, on Highway 58. The crash occurred early Tuesday, in Bakersfield, California.

Semi Truck Crash on Highway 99 and 58 Shut Down Freeway in Bakersfield
February 28, 2014- A semi truck crash shut down a part of both Highway 99 and Highway 58 in Bakersfield, California on Friday morning. The accident occurred at about 8:20 AM, on an overpass of Highway 58 east.
CHP have reported that the driver of the big rig was merging from southbound Hwy 99, to eastbound Hwy 58. The officer said the tractor-trailer was driving too fast for the rainy road conditions, and swerved along both sides of the freeway, before jack-knifing and catching on fire.
The semi was dangling off the overpass above Highway 99. The freeway was closed, because of plummeting debris.
It was said that 2-3 other cars were involved in the collision, but no one was hurt.
Caltrans will come in to inspect the overpass to make sure it is safe to drive on before vehicles can use that part of the highway again.

Car Rolls into an Orchard on Highway 58
November 24, 2011- An accident Thanksgiving day ends with a vehicle overturned in an orchard on Highway 58, near Bakersfield.
Two people from Bakersfield, were traveling east on Hwy 58, to a family gathering in Mojave. The car they were driving in, blew a tire as they were heading down the highway.
The car rolled several time and ended up in an orchard near Tower Line Road.
Both occupants were not seriously hurt.

Big Rig Carrying Glue Crashes on Highway 58
August 13, 2011- Saturday afternoon, two big rigs sideswiped each other on eastbound Highway 58, west of State Route 202 in Tehachapi, which is about 40 minutes from Bakersfield.
The crash caused extensive damage to the trailers, which spilled more than 700 gallons of glue on to the highway from one of the rigs. The other rig was hauling produce.
The Kern County fire crews used sand and dirt to stop the liquid glue from moving further and to keep it from causing environmental damage to the area.
One of the semi truck drivers was injured and taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
Damage to both trailers is reportedly put at around $200,000. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Highway Patrol.

Highway 58 SUV Crash
August 4, 2011- Thursday on westbound Highway 58, two SUV's were involved in a rollover collision during the morning rush hour traffic, in Bakersfield at Chester Ave.
It is reported that ambulances were called to the scene of the crash. The extent of injuries from the accident are not known at this time.

Highway 184 accident while pushing car
May 2, 2010--Two persons pushing a car out of the intersection of Highway 58 and Highway 184 were struck by a pickup driven by Juan Velasquez, age 44, who did not initiallly see them. Luis Espindola and James Davidson were both taken to Kern Medical Center.

More storms could cause more traffic delays on Interstate 5 and Highway 58
Business travelers were delayed December 7 and 8 as portions of Interstate 5 and Highway 58 were closed for winter storms. I-5 was closed after 5 pm December 7 and did not reopen until 9 am December 8, and even then cars were only allowed through with police escorts. Two more storms are predicted to be on the way. Drivers are cautioned to be aware of weather conditions before leaving home, carry chains in their vehicles, and drive at speeds appropriate for the conditions. http://www.nelsonrozier.com/
