Kern County Vehicle Rollover in Accident on Interstate 5

On Saturday, February 28, 2015, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 5 near the Tejon Outlets.  The Kern County car accident took place on the freeway, and ended with one vehicle overturning.

The CHP reported that a red Mitsubishi Eclipse and a Chevy Suburban Van collided into each other at I-5 and Laval Road.  The impact of the crash caused the SUV to rollover, and come to rest on its side in the median of the highway.

It is said that a baby was inside one of the vehicles.  There is no information at this time on whether anyone was injured.

Update: Fresno SUV Accident: Kids Hurt in the Collision

March 14, 2014- The car crash that happened in Fresno, on Friday, that ended with eight children injured has been updated with new information.

The driver of the speeding Lexus that slammed into the Chevy Suburban, has been identified as 21 year old Cameron Woods.

Police report that Woods was traveling at 71 mph in the Lexus, when he ran a stop sign on California Avenue, and hit the SUV which was crossing the intersection on Fruit Avenue.

Woods was booked on charges of felony hit and run, and reckless driving, and also will have other charges brought against him for firearms possession.

The injured kids, and other passengers who were hurt, were sent to Community Regional Medical Center, Saint Agnes Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente and Children's Hospital Central California.  Complete information on the victims' conditions have not been released, but it has been reported that several of the kids have been released from the hospital.

Update: Serious Car Crash in Fresno; Children Hurt in the Collision

March 14, 2014- The crash that happened in southwest Fresno on Friday, has been reported to have occurred at about 1:15 PM.

The Fresno police have reported that 12 people, which included 8 kids, were involved in the accident.

A motorcycle officer spotted a black Lexus traveling at about 70 miles per hour westbound down California Avenue.  Before the officer could even turn on his lights and go after the car, the Lexus ran a stop sign at the intersection of California and Fruit Avenue.  The car smashed into a Chevy Suburban, and some of the children were thrown out of the SUV.

There were 9 people in the SUV, and three in the Lexus.  Eleven people were taken to the hospital immediately, with injuries ranging from minor to major.

The driver of the Lexus is reported to be in his early 20's, and was driving on a suspended license.  He was arrested for felony hit and run after he tried to leave the scene of the collision.

Crash on Highway 33 near Patterson Ends Fatally

December 18, 2011- A woman died Sunday, in an SUV accident on Highway 33, near Patterson, northwest of Fresno, at about 1:00 PM.

67 year-old Ida Perez, of Patterson, was driving a 2003 Toyota Highlander southbound on Highway 33, near Marshall Road. Silvia Moreno, also of Patterson, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Kendall Schene, of Modesto, was driving a 2004 Chevy Suburban. She was traveling west on Marshall Road, where she ran a stop sign at the intersection of Marshall and Hwy 33.

The Chevy's front-end hit the drivers side of the Highlander.

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. While Moreno suffered serious injuries and was taken to Doctors Medical Center, in Modesto.

Schene suffered moderate injuries, but refused medical treatment.

The collision is under investigation. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the accident.

Two People Struck By SUV in Bakersfield

October 17, 2011- Two people were hit by an SUV on Monday afternoon in Bakersfield. The crash occurred at around 2 PM.

The driver of a Chevy Suburban was towing a truck. He thought the trailer came loose and turned his head over his shoulder to look. While looking the driver veered off the roadway and up the curbside, hitting the 14-year-old girl that was walking near Pesante Road and Mesa Drive. He then crashed through a fence and hit an elderly woman in her front yard.


The girl’s suffered moderate injuries, and the woman minor injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital.

Update: Big Rig Hit and Run Kills Three People Outside Mendota

September 2, 2011- The three farm workers that were killed by the hit-and-run big rig on Friday, have been identified as Alfredo Grayton, Adolfo Rodriguez, and Eloy Gonzalez. All three were from Mendota.

Big Rig Hit and Run Kills Three People Outside Mendota

September 2, 2011- A crash involving a big rig and an SUV causes three deaths on Friday morning west of Mendota, in Fresno County.

The driver of the semi truck was traveling east of Belmont Avenue where it and a Chevrolet Suburban carrying eight farm workers sideswiped each other, near Washoe Avenue, shortly before 6 AM. The big rig did not stop after the collision with the Chevy.

After striking the semi, the Chevy came to rest on the south side of Belmont about 175 feet from the road, in a pistachio orchard.



The Chevy’s driver and two passengers died from the impact. The five other occupants suffered major to minor injuries. All eight people in the SUV are from Mendota.

The big rig vehicle has been described as carrying a load of grapes in green bins. The CHP are investigating the wreck to find out which vehicle crossed the yellow road divide.
