Two Passengers Pinned Under Truck in Fresno

December 7, 2011- Two women were hurt after they were pinned under a run away truck, in southeast Fresno, on Wednesday night.

The two women were passengers in a Toyota Tundra pickup truck. The truck entered a driveway near Minnewawa Avenue and Belmont Avenue. The driver of the Toyota got out of the truck, but left the vehicle in drive with the two women inside.

The truck started to roll as the two passengers tried to get out. Both women were dragged until both front right and left tires pinned them to the ground.

A Good Samaritan witnessed the accident and rescued the women by using his tire jack to raise the truck and pull the women free.

Both passengers suffered moderate to major injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Double Fatality Caused by Drunk Driver in Clovis

November 27, 2011- a double-fatal crash happened early Sunday morning in Clovis just minutes from Fresno. The accident happened at about 2 AM.

Larry Garcia, of Clovis, was driving under the influence in his black Toyota pickup truck, when he slammed into a white Acura at the intersection of Minnewawa Avenue and Barstow Avenue, after he ran the red light.

The occupants of the Acura were Jessica Matthes, of Sacramento, and Keith Smith of Clovis.

Smith, the driver of the Acura, was killed instantly in the collision. Matthes was seriously injured and later died at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

Garcia received minor injuries. He was arrest and booked for DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
