Van Catches Fire After Collision with Parked Truck on Caldwell Avenue in Visalia

On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, a box truck collision ended in fatality on Caldwell Avenue, in Visalia.  The Tulare County vehicle accident happened at about 2:15 PM, west of Akers Road.

The driver of a 2001 Chevy transport van, Christopher Paul Nelson, of Exeter, was driving westbound on Caldwell Ave.  The Proteus Inc. box truck, at Turnberry Place, either failed to merge into the one lane, or did merge and then drifted from the lane.

The vehicle drove along the right curb of the street, and hit a parked Southern California Edison truck head-on.  The two trucks then burst into flames after the crash.

Nelson was trapped in his vehicle and was unable to be rescued until after the fire was put out.  He died at the scene of the collision.

Police are investigating whether Nelson suffered fatal injuries before or after the fire.  And the reasons for the accident.

Visalia Vehicle Collision, Van Hits Parked Truck, Kills One on Caldwell Avenue

March 3, 2015- A Proteus Inc. employee was killed after a vehicle accident with a parked dump truck, in Tulare County.  The transport van collision occurred on Tuesday, in Visalia, at approximately 2:10 PM.

A 2001 Chevrolet box truck, driven by Christopher Paul Nelson of Exeter, was traveling west on Caldwell Avenue, near Akers Road.  The transport van either merged from the two lane road into one lane and then veered off, or the vehicle failed to merge altogether.

The Chevy drove up against the right-side curb, and smashed head-on into a dump truck that was parked for repairs.  The dump truck, which was owned by Southern California Edison, and the van caught fire and were soon engulfed.

Nelson was unable to be rescued of the Proteus truck until emergency personnel put out the flames.  He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The incident is under investigation.

Tulare County Truck Accident, Vehicles Catch Fire in Visalia, One Fatality, on Caldwell Avenue

A truck collision took place on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 2:10 PM, in Tulare County.  The van accident killed an Exeter man, after his vehicle crashed into a parked truck, in Visalia. on Caldwell Avenue.

A Proteus Inc., 2001 Chevrolet box truck, driven by Christopher Paul Nelson, was traveling west on Caldwell Ave., west of Akers Road.  The street becomes one lane of traffic at that point of the roadway.

It is reported that Nelson either failed to merge, or did merge but then the transport van swerved off to the right side of the road.  The van drove along the right side curb and smashed head-on into a parked dump truck, property of Southern California Edison.

The two vehicles erupted in flames after the crash.  The Chevy van's driver was not rescued in time, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are investigating whether Nelson died before the fire, or as a result of it, and why the accident occurred.

Fatal Fiery Van Collision in Visalia, West of Akers on Caldwell Avenue

San Joaquin Valley Automobile Accident Lawyer John Rozier has the subsequent update; On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, an Exeter man died after his box truck collided with a parked semi.  The vehicle collision took place in Visalia, on Caldwell Avenue, at around 2:15 PM.

Christopher Paul Nelson, of Exeter, was driving a Proteus Inc. Chevy transport van westbound on Caldwell Ave.  On the street at Turnberry Place, traffic merges from two lanes to one lane.

It is reported that the box truck either failed to merge into the one lane, or that the vehicle did get over but then veered off to the right of the road, driving against the curb.  The 2001 delivery van drove head-on into a parked Southern California Edison dump truck.  The dump truck was at the side of the road for repairs.  Both trucks burst into flames upon collision.

Nelson died at the scene of the accident.  He was unable to be rescued from the vehicle until the fire was put out.

Transport Van Hits Parked Dump Truck Head-on, on Caldwell Avenue, in Visalia

March 3, 2015- An Exeter man was killed in a car accident that took place in Visalia, on Tuesday.  The Tulare County vehicle collision occurred on Caldwell Avenue, west of Akers Road, at approximately 2:10 PM.

A Proteus transport van, driven by Christopher Paul Nelson, was headed west on Caldwell Ave, where the road turns from two lanes into one.  Reports say that Nelson either failed to merge into the one lane, or that his box truck did merge over but for an unknown reason it swerved off to the right side of the street.

The 2001 Chevrolet transport truck drove along the right curb and smashed head-on into a parked vehicle.  The vehicle, a Southern California Edison dump truck, was parked for repairs.  After the collision, both the vehicles erupted in flames.

Victim in Fiery Truck Crash on Caldwell Avenue, in Visalia, is Identified

Tulare County Automobile Collision Lawyer John Rozier has the following accident update; The victim in the fiery truck crash that happened on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, has been identified as Christopher Paul Nelson.  The vehicle accident occurred in Visalia, California, at about 2:10 PM.

Christopher Paul Nelson, of Exeter, was driving a Proteus Inc. box truck, westbound on Caldwell Avenue, west of Akers Road.  The road on Caldwell, past Akers becomes one lane from two lanes, in front of Turnberry Place.

There are conflicting reports on what exactly took place.  One is that as the transport truck drove down the street, Nelson failed to merge, for an unexplained reason.  The other is that the box van was already merged into the one lane, when it veered off to the right side of the roadway.

The 2001 Chevy box van drove along the curb and collided head-on with a parked Southern California Edison dump truck.

Both vehicles then caught fire and were quickly engulfed completely in flames.  Nelson was unable to get out of the Proteus truck, and died at the scene of the incident.

Officers reported that it is undetermined at this time whether the driver was dead upon collision, or from the fire.  The accident is under investigation.
