Fatal Modesto Car Collision on State Route 108

Visalia Nursing Home Attorney John Rozier has the subsequent accident report; On Saturday, August 23, 2014, a car accident ended in fatality in Modesto.  The vehicle collision occurred at about 7:45 PM on Highway 108.

A 2012 Ford Fusion was driving on State Route 108, near Kennedy Road, when the driver was unable to make a turn at the bend in the roadway.

The car went into a field and through four fences.  The Fusion finally was stopped when it hit a tree.

The passenger in the Ford, a 81 year old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  The driver suffered serious injuries, and was taken to the local hospital.

Overturned Semi Truck Accident on Highway 99 in Modesto

Visalia Nursing Home Attorney John Rozier has the following accident report; On Thursday morning, July 31,2014, a big rig collision closed an off-ramp on Highway 99.  The accident happened in Modesto, California.

Southbound Highway 99 was where the crash occurred.  A semi truck overturned as it was heading onto the North Carpenter Road ramp.

The off-ramp on the freeway was closed for several hours until the tractor-trailer and debris could be removed.

Modesto Vehicle Accident Ends in Fatality on McHenry Avenue

June 5, 2014- A car collision killed one 53 year old woman, in Modesto, early Thursday.  The vehicle crash took place on McHenry Avenue, at about 12:49 AM.

The driver of a 2000 Ford Taurus, Deanna Senft, was headed south on McHenry Avenue.  Senft ran a red light at the intersection of McHenry and Sylvan Avenue.  The Taurus smashed into a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, that was westbound on Sylvan.

The Ford then hit another vehicle, some light and telephone poles, before coming to a stop.

Deanna Senft was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  Tyler Johnson, 18 years old, was the driver of the Chevy Silverado.  He and his passenger both sustained minor injuries.

Multiple Vehicle Accident in Modesto on Needham & Olive Streets

May 28, 2014- Three people were hurt in a vehicle accident that involved multiple cars, on Wednesday.  The collision happened in Modesto, at about 1:15 PM.

A woman was driving a Kia minivan southbound on Olive Street, when she went unconscious and ran a stop sign at the intersection of Needham Street and Olive.  The Kia drove into the path of a motorcycle being driven by a man, and his female passenger.  The motorcyclist attempted to avoid the van, but ran into the read left side.

The bike fell and skidded into the next lane, where it and the two bikers were struck by a Ford sedan.  The minivan continued across the roadway until it smashed into a tree.

Emergency personnel reported that the woman appeared to have suffered a seizure, which caused her unconsciousness.

The minivan's driver and the two motorcyclists all sustained injuries, and were taken to the hospital.  The man driving the Ford vehicle, was not hurt in the collision.

SUV Crash in Downtown Modesto Breaks Fire Hydrant

March 16, 2014-  A car accident, involving an SUV and minivan happened Sunday, in downtown Modesto.  The collision took place at around 2 PM.

The crash happened when a white, Mercury sport utility vehicle was broadsided by a Dodge Caravan at the intersection of 17th Street and I Street.  The SUV rolled and broke a fire hydrant before coming to a stop.

There were three people in the Mercury; two adults and a baby.  The adults sustained minor injuries.  The infant appeared to not have been hurt.  All three were taken to the hospital for treatment and observation.

It is reported that the people inside the Dodge Caravan were not injured in the crash.

Crash on Highway 99 in Modesto Ends in One Fatality

February 29, 2012- A crash on Highway 99 in Modesto leaves one person dead, on Wednesday. The accident happened at about 4:00 AM.

A woman was driving a 1998 Mercury southbound on Highway 99. She lost control of her car while changing lanes, and the vehicle spun.

The car then swerved to the left and hit the metal guardrail north of the Crows Landing Road exit. The Mercury then veered back to the right and overturned.

The driver was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, where she was pronounced dead.

Passengers Cory Bridgeman, 24, of Ceres and Stephen Johnson, 17, of Modesto were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with undetermined injuries.

Update: Car Crashes into Parked Semi Truck in Modesto

February 21, 2012- An update to the accident that happened on Tuesday, in Modesto, when a Kia Optima smashed into a parked big rig.

The passenger that was killed in the crash has been identified as Christopher McCoy, of Ceres.

The 19 year-old Modesto driver suffered major injuries. He is expected to recover.

Motorcycle Officer Hurt in a Crash in Modesto

February 24, 2012- A Modesto Police Department motorcycle officer suffered minor injuries in an afternoon crash, on Friday. The accident occurred at about 1:26 PM.

The officer was riding north on McHenry Avenue, just south of Briggsmore Avenue, in the middle lane. A vehicle headed south on McHenry turned left right in front of the motorcycle, while trying to enter the McHenry Village shopping center.

The officer was able to call in to report the accident. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Car Crashes into a Parked Semi Truck in Modesto

February 21, 2012- One man was killed and another seriously injured when their car slammed into the back of a parked big rig in a south Modesto crash, on Tuesday. The accident happened at about 4:35 PM.

The driver of a white Kia sedan, and his passenger, both in the 20's to early 30's, were traveling south on Morgan Road. The Kia suddenly swerved and hit the back of a parked big rig, at Morgan and Oates Court, just south of Hatch Road.

The sedan's front was wedged underneath the back right bumper of the semi truck's trailer. Both men were pinned in the vehicle until rescue crews could get them out. The emergency crews worked for about an hour to free the driver.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The driver suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

It is reported that the Kia was going at a high rate of speed. No reports on whether alcohol or drugs were involved.

Head-on Collision on McHenry Avenue in Modesto

January 25, 2012- A head-on crash happened in Modesto, on Wednesday evening. The accident occurred at about 6:00 PM.

A man driving a green Saturn, was southbound on McHenry Avenue, just south of Floyd Avenue. While a female driver, driving a white Oldsmobile sedan, was traveling north on McHenry Ave.

The Oldsmobile driver was in the middle turn lane, when it veered into the southbound lane and hit the Saturn head-on.

The female driver received moderate injuries, and the male driver suffered major injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Motorcyclist Dies after Collision with SUV in Modesto

January 12, 2012- A motorcyclist died after a crash with a sport utility vehicle, in Modesto, on Thursday. The accident happened at 9:45 PM.

Aaron Glen Carrillo, was driving a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R on Tully Road, headed north. Gary Silva, was driving a black Nissan Pathfinder, southbound on Tully Rd.

Silva made a left turn onto West Union Avenue, as the motorcycle was coming into the intersection. The two vehicles collided, causing Carrillo to be thrown 30 feet off the bike. He landed over a fence, in a nearby backyard.

Carrillo was majorly hurt and taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. It is reported that he was wearing a helmet.

Silva was not injured.

Modesto Crash Involving a School Bus and Car

January 9, 2012- A crash between a school bus and a car leaves one woman in critical condition, in Modesto, on Monday, at about 10:30 AM.

Dorothea Strobel, 78, was driving her Honda on G Street, toward downtown Modesto. She did not stop at the posted stop sign, at the intersection of G and 13th Street.

Strobel drove across three lanes of traffic and was hit by a Modesto City Schools bus. It is reported that the bus was traveling at 30 mph.

The driver of the bus, Alice Nelson of Ripon, and a 15 year-old passenger were not injured in the accident.

Strobel suffered major injuries and was taken to Doctors Medical Center. Her condition at this time is not known.

Pickup Truck Rolls Over on Highway 99 in Modesto

December 24, 2011- A truck crash occurred on southbound Highway 99 in Modesto, north of Fresno, on Saturday at about 10:38 PM.

The pickup truck was traveling south on the freeway, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, after speeding in and out of traffic. The truck hit the center divider, and it rolled over, near the Kansas Avenue exit.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The CHP said that alcohol could be a factor in the accident.

Update: Elderly Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car in Modesto

December 9, 2011- An update to the accident that happened in Modesto where an elderly woman was hit while walking to here mailbox, on Friday, at approximately 2:45 PM.

The woman hit and killed was Elsaree Duncan-Murray.

A 44 year-old Patterson man, not a woman, was driving his 2004 Honda west on Paradise, when the elderly woman stepped into the path of his car.

Elderly Pedestrian Struck and Killed By Car in Modesto

December 9, 2011- A pedestrian was killed Friday in Modesto, north of Fresno, at about 2:45 PM.

A woman in a grey Honda was driving westbound on Paradise Road, between Shiloh Road and Hart Road. An elderly woman crossed the street to go to her mailbox, and walked right in front of the Honda.

The woman, who was in her late 70's, died at the scene of the accident.

Officers reported that the elderly woman left the home without the family member knowing. They came from the nearby home shortly after the crash.

Modesto Crash Slows Traffic After Car Hits Power Pole

November 30, 2011- A car hit a power pole in Modesto, north of Fresno, Wednesday at approximately 3:30 PM.

The crash occurred on Claribel Road, between Coffee Road and McHenry Avenue. The car was heavily damaged in the accident, but no injuries were reported.

Officers believe that alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Semi Truck Crashes on Hwy 99 Taking out Freeway Soundwall in Modesto

November 28, 2011- A big rig rolled on Highway 99, Monday morning taking out 92 feet of sound wall, that separated the freeway from Sisk Road, in Modesto. The accident occurred at about 2:15 AM.

Juan Alvarado, of Patterson, was driving a semi truck with tanks containing a liquid cheese byproduct. He was traveling north on Highway 99, just south of Earl Street. Alvarado made a lane change from the center lane to the slow lane, and lost control of his rig.

The big rig rolled over and crashed through the sound wall, sending splintered wood across Sisk Road, which parallels the freeway.

Sisk Road was shut down between Whitcomb Way and Brenner Way to clean up the debris and remove the truck.

Alvarado was not injured in the crash.

Pedestrian Hit and Killed on McHenry Ave in Modesto

November 23, 2011- a man died after being hit by two cars in Modesto, Wednesday night at approximately 8:20 PM.

The pedestrian, who was in his late teens to early 20's, was crossing on McHenry Avenue, just south of Briggsmore Avenue. As he was walking across the northbound lanes he was stuck by the first vehicle, followed by the second.

The man suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

This pedestrian was the second to be struck and killed by a vehicle in Modesto within the last week.

Semi Flips Over on McHenry Avenue in Modesto

November 15, 2011- A semi truck carrying a load of firewood overturned in north Modesto, on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred at about 1:30 PM.

The driver of the Lionudakis Firewood big rig, was driving on McHenry Avenue when the truck’s front axle broke. The vehicle tipped over near Bangs Avenue.

Fuel began leaking from the rig, after the crash, forcing some lanes of the street to close.

The driver of the semi received moderate injuries to his arm and was taken to the hospital.

Big Rig Crashes into Three Cars on Highway 99

October 17, 2011- a Modesto crash involving a big rig and three other cars stalled traffic for several hours on Highway 99, Monday morning.

At approximately 8:30 AM southbound traffic exiting onto the Briggsmore-Carpenter off ramp came to a stop in the slow lane of the highway north of the overpass.

The driver of a semi truck, Rohit Chandowailia of Stockton, was driving south on the freeway when he braked to avoid the stopped traffic, but his truck jackknifed.

The cab of the semi swung across the slow lane knocking three cars off the road, over an embankment. The big rig hit a Mazda 3, driven by Byron Aranda of Manteca. The it crashed into a 2009 Toyota Prius, driven by Norma Reed of Alamo. Lastly it collided with a Ford Ranger, driven by Adolfo Lopez of Salida before also veering over the embankment.

The big rig and the other three vehicles came to rest along a chain link fence that separates the freeway from the railroad tracks.

Lopez was the only one hurt in the crash. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his minor injuries.

It is reported that traffic was backed up, because of the accident, all the way to Manteca. The slow lane of the highway was shut down until 12:15 PM.

The CHP said that drugs and alcohol are not contributing factors in the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
