Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Highway 99 On-ramp in Madera

Visalia Nursing Home Attorney John Rozier has the subsequent accident update; On Sunday, October 12, 2014, a motorcycle collision ends in fatality.  The vehicle crash took place in Madera, at about 10:35 PM.

Jose Eduardo Perez-Luna, 23 years old, was riding a motorcycle from the Madera Avenue on-ramp to Highway 99, when he ran a red light.  The bike collided with the side of a car, and crashed.

Perez-Luna was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

DUI Car Collision on Highway 99 in Madera, Construction Works Hurt

Visalia Elder Abuse Attorney John L. Rozier has the subsequent update; On Tuesday, October 14, 2014, two men were injured in an automobile collision in Madera.  The vehicle accident took place on Highway 99, at about 2 AM.

Two construction workers were working on the Highway 99 freeway, near Fourth Street, when a car drove into the construction zone, and hit them.  The driver was suspected to be driving while under the influence.

Both workers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.  The driver was arrested at the scene of the crash.

Southbound Highway 99 Semi Truck Accident in Madera

Visalia Elder Abuse Attorney John L. Rozier has the subsequent update; On Monday, September 22, 2014, a tractor-trailer overturned on Highway 99.  The big rig collision occurred in Madera, at about 2:30 PM.

A semi truck carrying a load of hay was traveling south on Highway 99, north of Avenue 12.  The big rig lost control and flipped over, spilling its bales of hay all over both sides of the southbound freeway.

The highway traffic was backed up for about an hour while crews worked to clear the wreckage.

No reports on whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Five Hurt in Madera Vehicle Accident on Cleveland Ave.

May 18, 2014- A car collision in Madera, California, leaves five people injured.  The accident happened on Sunday, at approximately 7:30 PM.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Austin Avenue, when a vehicle that had stopped at a stop sign, pulled out into the path of a red Chevrolet pickup truck.  The impact of the collision caused the Chevy to leave the roadway and come to a stop in a house's front yard.

The pickup's driver and four passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries, and were taken to the hospital.  There were no other injuries reported.

Fatality in Madera Motorcycle Accident

March 22, 2014- A man from Madera died in a vehicle collision, on Saturday.  The fatal crash happened just before noon in Madera, California.

Roger Godinez, 20 years old, of Madera was riding his motorcycle, when the bike collided with a Ford pickup truck at the intersection of Yosemite Avenue, and Q Street.

Godinez, the motorcyclist, was killed at the scene of the accident.  No reports on whether the driver of the Ford was hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

CHP Officer Hurt in Highway 99 Roll-over Accident in Madera

April 2, 2014- A California Highway Patrol officer was involved in a car accident, on Highway 99, Wednesday night.  The collision took place in Madera, at around 7:30 PM.

The CHP officer was in his patrol vehicle, following a black motorcycle on the highway.  The motorcycle took a sudden turn onto the Avenue 20 off-ramp.  The patrol car tried to follow, but lost control after hitting a patch of grass.  The officer's car rolled over multiple times.

The highway patrolman hurt his head during the crash, and had other minor injuries.  He was taken to the hospital, but is expected to recover.

The black motorcycle, the CHP was following, got away.

Elderly Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Truck near Madera

January 23, 2012- A pedestrian was killed in a crash on Monday, near Madera, north of Fresno. The accident happened just before 6:00 PM.

Jo Jung Chan, 79, was walking across the middle of Adell Street, east of Owens Street, carrying a bag of groceries.

Federico Cabral, of Madera, was traveling east on Adell St., in his 1993 Ford ranger. It is reported that he was about 13 feet in front of Chan before he was able to react.

The pickup truck struck Chan as he was crossing the road.

Chan suffered major injuries and died at the scene of the collision.

Madera Man Died in an Accident on Highway 145

December 16, 2011- A man from Madera, north of Fresno, died after a head-on crash Friday afternoon, on Highway 145.

The 47 year-old man was riding in a Dodge Shadow, headed west, when the car slammed into a pickup truck that turned right in front of it.

The driver of the Dodge Shadow suffered moderate injuries. The man, who was a passenger, was not wearing a seat belt, and died at the scene of the accident.

The two people that were in the truck, received minor to moderate injuries.

Big Rig Hits Parked Cars After Driver Has Heart Attack

December 9, 2011- A man driving a semi truck hit five parked vehicles after having a heart attack, on Friday, near Madera, north of Fresno. The crash occurred at about 10:30 PM.

Jimmy Brewer of Madera, was towing two double trailers behind his rig at about 10 mph, on the private property at Road 27 1/2, south of Avenue 12. He went into cardiac arrest and slumped over the steering wheel.

The big rig slammed into five parked, vehicles, that were unoccupied, and stopped against one of the cars.

A co-worker was the one to find Brewer in his semi truck, unconscious. Brewer was taken to Madera Community Hospital. It is reported that he was in critical, but stable condition.

Truck Crashes Into Amtrak Train in Madera

September 25, 2011- A Madera man sustained only minor injuries after his pickup collided with an Amtrak train Sunday morning. The crash occurred at about 7 AM, in the Madera area, north of Fresno.

Joe Irami, was driving a 2010 Dodge truck east on Avenue 15, west of Santa Fe Drive. He was approaching the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe tracks, and realized that the crossing arms were down. Irami slammed on his brakes, but the truck did not stop in time, and smashed into the train.

Irami was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno to be treated for minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.

Golden State Blvd Fatality Between Chowchilla and Madera

August 26, 2011- A 16 year old Chowchilla boy, Jose Trinidad, died Friday evening when the car he was a passenger in was struck head-on by a man suspected of drunk driving.

Trinidad was in the front passenger seat of a 2001 Hyundai that was headed north on Golden State Boulevard, a frontage road on the west side of Highway 99. The accident occurred north of Avenue 20, between Chowchilla and Madera, about 15 minutes north of Fresno, right before 9 PM.

Trinidad was one of four teenagers in the Hyundai, when it was hit by a 2006 Infiniti that was driving south on Golden State Blvd.

The Infiniti’s driver, Sancho Kibufu, of Encino, was reportedly driving at a high speed when he crossed the center line and crashed into the Hyundai.

Kibufu was taken to Madera Community Hospital with major injuries, before being arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 19 year old man, and the two other passengers, were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Fatality on Southbound Hwy 99 near Madera

August 26, 2011- A fatality occurred Friday afternoon at 3:30 PM on Highway 99 when a 1997 Honda Accord crashed into a big rig, near Madera, which is 10 minutes north of Fresno.

The driver of the Honda, Jerri Fuller, a woman from Rancho Cordova, was driving north on Hwy 99, south of Avenue 21 ½. She veered left from the pavement, and slid across the dirt median into the oncoming southbound traffic.

The driver of a tractor-trailer rig, Kevin Barth of Wisconsin, swerved to avoid the Honda, but not soon enough. The car hit the left side of the trailer and the rear wheels rolled over it, breaking the rear axle from the trailer.

Jerri Fuller died at the scene of the accident. And Barth was taken to Madera Community Hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses of the crash reported that Fuller was driving between 65-80 mph when she left the northbound lanes of the highway.

The CHP don’t know why the car sped across the median, into the southbound lanes.

Highway 41 motorcycle accident

December 12, 2010--Sunday morning's fatal accident in Madera County on Highway 41 was caused by a drunk driver who tried to pass a Ford Mustang when the motorcycle was oncoming.  The deceased is identified as Eddie Johnson.  His passenger Wilma Tucker was critically injured.  Bruce Faux of Coarsegold was identified as the suspected drunk driver.

Madera County head-on collision

November 22, 2010--Last Monday an accident in Madera County critically injured 2 and seriously hurt another.  19 year old Honorio Tecpile is accused of crossing the center line on Highway 145 on a curve near Road 33. He reportedly was unlicensed and gave a false identity at the scene.

Highway 41 accident injures Jim Gagliardi

November 16, 2010--Last night a two car crash on Highway 41 in Madera County severely injured 71 year old Jim Gagliardi, a partner in a landmark Fresno business called National Hardware.  Maxwell Gross, age 18, was northbound on Highway 41 and turned into the path of Mr. Gagliardi's southbound GMC vehicle.  Mr. Gross was driving a Jeep.

Madera pedestrian killed on 4th street

November 13, 2010--Saturday night a 48 year old Madera woman named Judy Lynne Diaz was struck by a car and killed while crossing 4th Street at the Highway 99 overpass.  The driver immediately contacted the police and reported the incident.

Jaguar crash near Madera

November 13, 2010--Last Saturday's crash near Madera occurred when a Jaguar driven by Richard Farias was trying to pass another car at 110 miles per hour and overturned.  Marcel Rodriguez, age 38 and Deborah Lyon, age 53 both of Madera were killed in the accident and two others including the driver were injured.  The accident was on Avenue 14 near Road 21 in Madera County

September 25 Madera fatal pedestrian accident

On September 25 Eladio Lemus, a 69-year-old man, was killed in a hit and run pedestrian accident in Madera. According to reports Lemus was crossing 6th Street at the A Street intersection in Madera when he was hit by a vehicle headed west on 6th Street. The vehicle had failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. The driver of the vehicle then fled took off and left the scene of the accident.
