June 26, 2014- A semi truck accident on Highway 99, backed up traffic, early Thursday morning. The big rig collision took place in Fresno, at about 4:30 AM.
The tractor-trailer was overturned onto its side, blocking the right lane of the freeway, near Herndon Avenue. Northbound Highway 99 traffic was slowed until the wreckage was cleaned up, at about 8 AM.
No reports or further details on the cause of the accident at this time.

Big Rig Collision on Highway 120 near Modesto
June 3, 2014- A semi truck and car collision leaves one woman with serious injuries, in Stanislaus County, on Tuesday. The accident took place northeast of Modesto, near Knights Ferry, at approximately 5:55 AM.
Jennifer Cunningham, 31 years old, from Modesto, was driving a 2012 Toyota eastbound on Highway 120. As she neared Kennedy Road, the Toyota veered off the road and onto the right shoulder. The driver overcorrected, and the vehicle swerved into the westbound lane.
The Toyota drove head-on into a 2014 Peterbilt big rig, that was driven by Donald Herald, 46 years old. The two vehicles collided, and Cunningham, who was reported to not have been wearing a seatbelt, sustained major injuries. She was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center for treatment.
Herald was not hurt in the crash.

Two Semi Trucks Collide in Accident near Fresno
May 19, 2014- Two big rigs were involved in a vehicle collision on Highway 180, east of Fresno. The accident took place on Monday, at approximately 6 PM.
The crash occurred when one semi truck smashed into the back of another big rig's trailer, at Highway 180 and McCall Avenue.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. It is reported that no one was seriously injured during the accident.

Big Rig Accident on Highway 58 in Kern County
May 14, 2014- A semi truck caught fire in a vehicle accident that took place on Highway 58. The incident occurred on Wednesday, at about 11 PM, in Bakersfield.
The big rig, which was hauling produce, was driving eastbound on Highway 58, near Bena Road. The driver, Bob Comaduran, noticed smoke coming from the semi trucks engine while driving on the freeway. Comaduran slowed down, and he and his son, who was a passenger, jumped out, before the hauler completely erupted into flames.
The semi truck burned until it was beyond recognizable.
The driver and his son sustained only minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Fatal Semi Truck Collision in Merced County near Atwater
May 2, 2014- An automobile accident killed one man, in Merced County, on Friday. The collision happened near Atwater, north of Fresno, at about 10:30 AM.
Steven Hill, 51 years old, was driving a 2010 Honda Accord east on Atwater-Jordan Road. While Miguel Morales, of Chowchilla, was traveling southbound, in a semi truck, on Lincoln Boulevard.
The intersection of Atwater-Jordan Road and Lincoln Blvd. have stop signs posted on the Atwater side, but does not have them on the Lincoln side. The Honda ran through the stop sign at the intersection, and traveled right into the path of the big rig.
The semi truck smashed into the left side of the Accord, and both vehicles ended up in the southeast corner of the intersection, and hit a power pole.
Steven Hill was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Morales was not injured.

Semi Truck Collision on I-5 at Kettleman City
May 4, 2014- Interstate 5 was backed up most of Sunday, because of a big rig accident, in Kings County. The collision happened at about 7 AM, near Kettleman City.
A tractor trailer carrying water was headed northbound on I-5. The semi truck lost control and overturned on the highway, just north of Milham Avenue. Traffic was at a stand still for at least six miles, south of the Highway 41 off-ramp, while emergency officials took care of the wreckage.
No other information is available at this time.

Three Vehicle Collision with Fast Food Restaurant in Ceres
April 30, 2014- A three vehicle accident sent a semi truck into a fast food restaurant in Stanislaus County, Wednesday morning. The collision happened in Ceres, California, at approximately 8 AM.
The crash took place at the intersection of Mitchell Road and Hatch Road. No word on how the accident occurred, but the Mckinney semi truck smashed into the Jack in the Box restaurant, and drove almost through the middle of it.
Police reported that two people in a car sustained minor injuries, and the big rig's driver was also hurt. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. One employee in the fast food restaurant was said to have been treated at the scene of the collision, but otherwise no one in the building was reported to have been injured.

Semi Truck Collision on Highway 41 Closed Freeway in Fresno
April 15, 2014- A big rig carrying beer overturned in an accident that took place on Highway 41, on Tuesday. The crash happened in Fresno, at about 5:30 AM.
A Bud Light semi truck transporting beer, was traveling onto southbound Highway 41, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The big rig overturned at the bottom of the westbound Jensen Avenue on-ramp to the freeway.
The wreckage took 4 hours to clear before all lanes on Highway 41 were opened.

Semi Truck Catches Fire in an Accident on Highway 99 Bakersfield
April 12, 2014- A semi truck rolled over and caught fire on Highway 99 in Kern County, on Saturday. The vehicle accident happened at about 4 AM.
The big rig that was involved in the crash, was a tanker hauling hundreds of gallons of fuel, on its way to Tehachapi, from Fresno. The semi over-turned on Highway 99, near the Highway 65 overpass.
After the big rig lost control and flipped, it was soon engulfed in flames. The driver of the semi truck, was rescued by a witness to the crash, Mayra Montano, who was on her way to work.
The driver of the tanker sustained moderate injuries, with head trauma and some broken ribs. He was taken to Kern Medical Center, in Bakersfield.

Highway 58 Multiple Vehicle Semi Truck Collision in Bakersfield
April 8, 2014- A multi-vehicle accident, involving two cars and two big rigs, happened in Kern County, on Highway 58. The crash occurred early Tuesday, in Bakersfield, California.

Semi Truck Accident on Northbound I-5
March 25, 2014- A vehicle collision involving two semi-trucks ends fatally on Interstate 5 north, near Highway 138. The accident happened south of Bakersfield, Tuesday morning, at about 6:48 AM.
Officers reported that a big rig stalled in the slow lane of northbound I-5, when another semi crashed into the delayed truck. The impact killed one of the big rig's drivers.

I-5 Fatal Big Rig Car Crash near Avenal
March 17, 2014- A three vehicle car accident ends in fatality for two people, including a 6 year old girl, on Interstate 5 south, on Monday. The collision happened at about 5 PM, near the Avenal cutoff, southwest of Visalia.
The car crash happened between an minivan and two semi trucks on I-5 south. The driver of a Honda Odyssey, Alfredo Guzman, 32 years old, and his five passengers were southbound on Interstate 5, when the van's right tire blew.
Guzman lost control, and the vehicle spun around across the interstate divide, and smashed into two northbound big rigs that were driven by Orlando Hernandez, and Miguel Perez.
The impact of the collision caused three people to be ejected from their vehicle.
Five people were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno. The 6 year old girl died in the hospital from her injuries. One other person has died from their wounds, but their name has not been released.
Maricela Briseno, 30 years old, Julia Guzman, 7 years old, and Maria Guzman, 53 years old, were listed as having sustained major injuries. The driver of the Honda, Alfredo Guzman received moderate injuries, and Jubenal Guzman, 34 years old, who as also in the Odyssey, was not injured.

The rainy roads most likely contributed to the conditions in the accident, where the semi jack-knifed on the freeway, near Rosedale Highway.
It is reported that traffic was slow from 7th Standard on to Rosedale, and also on Airport Drive.
Vehicles were told to avoid the area after the collision, because of the backup, but the roadways are clear now.

CHP have reported that the driver of the big rig was merging from southbound Hwy 99, to eastbound Hwy 58. The officer said the tractor-trailer was driving too fast for the rainy road conditions, and swerved along both sides of the freeway, before jack-knifing and catching on fire.
The semi was dangling off the overpass above Highway 99. The freeway was closed, because of plummeting debris.
It was said that 2-3 other cars were involved in the collision, but no one was hurt.
Caltrans will come in to inspect the overpass to make sure it is safe to drive on before vehicles can use that part of the highway again.

Highway 99 Fatal Crash near White Lane Bakersfield
February 19 2014- One fatality is reported in a car crash involving three vehicles on Highway 99 south, in Bakersfield, on Wednesday. The accident occurred at about 8 PM.
75 year old Seung Chun Lim of Sherman Oaks, California was driving a 2009 Lexus southbound. It is reported that he was traveling at a high rate of speed, when he swerved to the right and collided with a 2012 Kenworth semi truck. The big rig was driven by 50 year old Brian M. Kenner of Clovis. The semi was stopped in traffic just north of White Lane.
Lim's Lexus continued to move to the right and hit the left rear bumper of a 2009 Dodge, that was driven by 23 year old Esther T. Ibarra of Bakersfield. Ibarra was exiting onto White Lane.
Officers said Lim's car came to rest facing northeast in the southbound lanes, against the perimeter fence. It is reported that Lim died at the scene.

Highway 180 Crash Between Semi and Car Results in 3 Deaths
February 22, 2012- A crash on Highway 180 leaves three people dead, near Mendota. The accident happened at about 2:30 AM, on Wednesday.
Felicito Escalante, was driving a 1991 Ford Escort with passenger Maria Castorena, of Kerman. They were traveling eastbound on Highway 180, when the Escort swerved into the westbound lane.
The Ford collided head-on with a semi truck headed west on the highway, driven by Maria Mendoza. The crash resulted in a fire and a large diesel spill, near San Mateo Avenue.
Jose Perez, who was in the sleeping compartment of the big rig was ejected from the vehicle during the accident. He suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno.
Escalante, Castorena, and Mendoza were all killed in the collision.
The incident closed the highway in both directions for several hours.
The cause of the accident is unknown at the time, but officers did report that they found beer bottles inside the Ford Escort.

Wray Robert Hardin, 57, was driving at an excessive speed when he lost control of the 2004 Freightliner semi truck and it flipped over, blocking the ramp and eastbound lanes of Highway 152.
Traffic was diverted to the highway's center divider until 9 p.m. Hardin suffered minor injuries in the crash, and was transported to a Modesto hospital.

Semi Truck Runs Off Hwy 99 and Into Wall in Bakersfield
January 30, 2012- A semi truck crash occurred off of Highway 99, in Bakersfield, late Monday night.
The driver of the big rig was traveling southbound on Highway 99, near White Lane. He tried to change lanes, after coming upon a separate crash on the freeway, when another car cut him off.
The driver swerved to avoid hitting anyone, and lost control of the truck. The semi ran off the road and into the wall of a Nissan dealership.
It is reported that no one was injured in this accident.

Car and Milk Truck Collision Kills One in Hanford
January 25, 2012- A fatal crash occurred in Hanford on Wednesday, west of Visalia. The accident happened at about 9:30 AM.
Ariel Marie Gieseman was driving a Nissan Sentra eastbound on Flint Avenue. With fog in the area, visibility was down to about 500 feet as Gieseman approached the Seventh Avenue intersection.
Dale Igou of Visalia, was driving a big rig carrying a tanker full of milk. He turned onto the road from a nearby dairy.
The semi almost completely entered the westbound lane on Flint Ave, when the Nissan slammed into the left-rear axle at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the Nissan to spin off onto an embankment.
Witnesses said that the Nissan was going at about 60-70 miles per hour, and Gieseman was holding something in her hand just before she hit the big rig.
Gieseman was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. No reports on whether Igou was hurt.
The crash is still under investigation, but fog was a big contributor to the incident.

Dale Igou of Visalia, was driving a big rig carrying a tanker full of milk. He turned onto the road from a nearby dairy.
The semi almost completely entered the westbound lane on Flint Ave, when the Nissan slammed into the left-rear axle at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the Nissan to spin off onto an embankment.
Witnesses said that the Nissan was going at about 60-70 miles per hour, and Gieseman was holding something in her hand just before she hit the big rig.
Gieseman was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. No reports on whether Igou was hurt.
The crash is still under investigation, but fog was a big contributor to the incident.

Big Rig Crashes and Spills Propane on Highway 178
January 21, 2012- A semi truck hauling 4,000 gallons of propane was involved in a crash on Highway 178, halfway between Bakersfield and Lake Isabella. The accident happened on Saturday, at about 3:00 PM.
A big rig lost control while traveling on Highway 178, near China Garden Road. It swerved and struck the side of the mountain, one mile west of Democrat Station.
The collision cause the rear-tank on the rig to spring a leak. The first arriving crews were able to isolate the hazard and contain it rather quickly. The highway was closed both directions to prevent any exposures, until the clean up was completed.
