November 7, 2009--A LAPD officer on a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck early Saturday morning. The accident occurred on I-5 north of the Tejon Summit in Kern County. The officer was airlifted to USC Medical Center. He was identified as Officer Timothy Kay. The driver of the truck was identified as Joel Lopez of Artesia. The officer was listed in stable condition.
Although the motorcycle struck the rear of the truck, further investigation will reveal whether the truck swerved in front of the cycle. The CHP is still investigating this accident.
