April 25, 2014- An accident involving a car and a big rig ends in one woman and child dead, on Friday, in Kern County. The collision occurred on Highway 99, in Bakersfield, at about 8:08 PM.
The driver of a 1995 red Ford Mustang, Jamie Robertson, 36 years old, was getting on southbound Highway 99 at the Rosedale Highway on-ramp. She lost control of her Mustang, from the wet road conditions, at swerved into a semi truck, driven by Michael David Costa, 51 years old.
The Mustang crashed into the right side of the Freightliner, and it was pushed into the center divider were it came to rest.
Robertson was carrying two children in her vehicle. She and one of the children died at the scene of the crash. The other child suffered serious injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield.
The semi truck driver sustained moderate injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
