October 2, 2011- One driver was killed and another hurt in two accidents early Sunday morning on Highway 99, near Kiernan Avenue in Modesto.
A man was driving north on Hwy 99 in a 2001 Ford, at about 2:10 AM, when his vehicle drifted to the left into the median. He then swerved to the right, crossing all three lanes, and overturned.
Amanda Hallberg of Manteca, the driver of a 2007 Buick, then hit the Ford. It is reported she did not see the other vehicle in time to avoid hitting it.
The Ford driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash. Hallberg sustained minor injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
