February 15, 2012- An update to the accident that left a man's body floating in the Kern River near Bakersfield. The crash occurred on Saturday afternoon.
The Kern County coroner said that upon examination of Mark Roberts body, cause of death was accidental drowning.
His truck was found crashed off the side of Highway 178, in Kern Canyon.
Officials believed that the winding canyon road and the darkness caused Roberts to crash. He went off the road, and his truck rolled at least twice.
Roberts got out of his vehicle on his own, but stepped off into the water and was swept away.
